On side one this high relief pendant incorporates a pioneer family pulling a handcart across the plains surrounded by ‘Pioneer Trek’ and the declaration ‘Endure to the End’.

Side two depicts the scene that occurred on an icy river crossing when a young boy carries a young pioneer girl through the frozen waters at the expense of his own health. Text on side two includes many of the founding principles about which the pioneers were united.
