On side one this high relief coin incorporates a pioneer family pulling a handcart across the plains surrounded by 'Pioneer Trek - Endure to the End' and the declaration 'Leaving a Legacy by Living Our Faith'.
Side two 'Latter-Day Pioneers' depicts the scene that occurred on an icy river crossing when a young boy carries a young pioneer girl through the frozen waters at the expense of his own health. Text on side two includes many of the founding principles about which the pioneers were united.
Other symbolic design elements are also used to encourage thoughtful pondering.
